Oh, snap! After reading the last couple of letters about the checkpoints, I’ve realized that trying to catch lawbreakers is the wrong thing to do, as it could add a few minutes to people’s commute! The horror, the horror. What these anti-checkpoint letters boil down to is that the writers don’t care that nutcases who drink and drive are killing people and getting away with it, as long as they aren’t slowed down or forced to slow down for a few minutes when they drive. Not only is this idea sick and convoluted, is it also imprinted in the minds of us young readers.
So, not only do these people not care about drunken driving victims, they also don’t care about the messages they send to children.
