Lynnwood has several very successful events: Civic Lights Winter Celebration, Egg Hunt, Star Spangled Celebration, Wonderstage, Fantastic Fridays, Saturday Matinee and Shakespeare in the Park! These events are funded by the City of Lynnwood in excess of $62,400, plus the city employees’ hours expended on these projects.
It’s possible the city will not be able to continue funding these events under the current economic conditions. Instead of something new, unknown and unproven as another festival can the organizations, businesses and citizens come together and take on one or all of these projects as their own? Every one of these city events could expand and be made into a hometown celebration for families to remember for generations.
We have a multitude of talented, community-spirited and energetic people in Lynnwood who would step forward to volunteer and make this a win-win for all concerned.
