We live in Fir Grove, a south Everett neighborhood whose display of holiday decorations has been enjoyed for years by sightseeing visitors, especially at Halloween and Christmas. This year, on a sunny September weekend, Fir Grove residents treated themselves to a festive celebration of ol’ fashioned neighborhood camaraderie.
Steve and Paula Bond organized a picnic and a lot of people came. “We wanted to do something to encourage more Fir Grove families to get to know each other,” said the Bonds. We often hear people talk about the good ol’ days when neighbors would not only know each other, but enjoy doing things together.
With more than 90 people representing 50 families attending, from tiny tots to octogenarians, we share the Bonds’ belief that the picnickers felt a bit of that kind of spirit.
Plenty of food and beverages filled tables in the newly renovated Fir Grove Community Park, an ideal setting for a community get-together.
The park is an area that Fir Grove residents take pride in keeping well maintained.
The Bonds praised everyone who helped and everyone who attended for making the occasion a great success. They believe it is community events such as this that make Everett and Snohomish County an even better place to live.
We agree!
