In Friday’s (Sept. 23) Herald, Snohomish City Council Member Liz Loomis was quoted as saying “that’s hogwash” regarding the lawsuit filed against the city over the naked pigs which were painted on a restaurant located at 2nd and Avenue D. Well, I’ll tell you what hogwash is.
It is hogwash of the City to be sued by the business owners over these naked pigs. This shows how much the City Council has been concerned about appearances over integrity. Nobody I have talked to thinks these pigs are some esoteric work of art. They look fine, kind of cute and are definitely not insultive. It is hogwash to hear people joke about the possibility of needing to clothe all the animals in town. You see this City Council is pro-business, if the business appearance is acceptable to them.
It is hogwash that a large, older, single-family historical home, located at 2nd and Avenue E, right across from the restaurant, was moved and in its place now stands a modern, multi-family apartment/condo unit. So much for protecting the historical district and the historical flavor of Snohomish. Now that is hogwash!
This City Council does not pick its battles wisely. Now the citizens must pay for the lack of common sense of ittheir council with unnecessary attorney fees and court costs. It is time for the citizens of Snohomish to take back their city from a renegade council. Texans said “Remember the Alamo!”Americans said “Remember the Maine!”Snohomishites need to say “Remember the Naked Pigs!” and vote the council out.
