Regarding the editorial, “Ground rules for clean water”: Personally, I agree, everyone on a septic system should be responsible for care and maintenance of said system. (I am on one myself), what is disagreeable is the proposed $40 “fee” and its use.
However, this problem should be approached starting with a few basics. It seems clean water and public health agencies never address the problems of our homeless populations, whom many live near waterways and critical areas. I admit I have never visited a homeless camp, but if I were, I think it would be prudent to don a Hazmat suit, rubber boots, and watch where I step, if you know what I mean.
I’m confident if King County uses this method, Snohomish County will follow suit. Indeed, I would be happy to contribute $40 per year to help with the above problem, but not for creating another bureaucracy.
