Headlines of recent news stories should read: “Tacoma pastor may have charges dropped if he behaves” and “Everett veterinarian might as well have gotten off.”
Priests are shuffled off to another parish or retirement homes to live out the rest of their lives after they have gone to confession and been given forgiven of their sins. While our children are permanently damaged or turned into sex offenders themselves because of the above mentioned behavior.
What is wrong with the justice system that says it is OK to molest and take away the innocence and childhood from our children? Lawmakers should wake up. When are they going to revise our laws so there is no statute of limitations for sex crimes of any kind, especially against our children? Don’t they realize that by the time our children tell what happened, they are adults and many times that guarantees the time has run out to prosecute?
There should be no debate on these issues if our elected representatives ever decide to revise these laws that allow these people to get a slap on the wrist. The prosecutors who plea-bargained these punishments should be fired as well as the judges who accept such plea-bargains.
