As an 80-year-old person who has lived in Everett all my life, and have read The Herald for most of it. I have a point to make regarding the content of your newspaper. I am aware of the philosophy of your former editor that news should be mostly local. However, you may be following that to extreme.
As a case in point, the Aug. 8 edition carried two headline stories on the front page: “School lunches up 25 cents” and “Will Mukilteo have parking meters?” In all due respect, the second section of the paper says “Local” at the top. With all the problems currently facing our country and the world, it seems that news about some of those things would be more appropriate and more interesting to your readers as main feature stories.
Bottom line, we enjoy the paper, but would appreciate more news about what’s going on in the rest of the country and the world around us.
