I was pleased to see the passage of the gun safety law, Initiative 1491. It is good that families have legal recourse to remove firearms from members who are mentally unstable.
But we should not overlook another remedy that is also available and probably widely used: Wait until he is not looking, and take away his guns.
This can be used instead of, or in conjunction with, the legal remedy. It is quick, cheap, and effective.
It has served our family well.
