I would like to ask a simple question. Why have so many people stopped donating food when it is more important than ever? I would like to know because, while we live in a rich country there are still hungry people out there, and while they are out there, we (people with homes and enough to eat) take life for granted.
People are still hungry in America. Even with donations to the Red Cross it would help if people kept donating to local food shelters. People feel good about knowing they helped feed a hungry and possibly homeless family. And more people need the help now with all of the layoffs.
Even though this is the wealthiest country, we still have hungry people out there. I know that with the Sept. 11 attack, people are donating more to the Red Cross. Nationally we are doing great with the donations, but locally we don’t have enough. We need to get the local donations up.
