Plug-in hybrid owner swears by electric vehicles

I see by a recent letter to the editor that someone doesn’t care for electric cars much and thinks there is no way we could generate enough clean power for them.

We have solar panels on our house in Everett and they pretty much pay for most all of the electricity we use. There is plenty of sun and wind on both sides of the Cascades, not to mention all the hydro power we’ve had for decades. We have a plug-in hybrid and really like it; as the gas prices keep going up we will like it even better.

Electric cars also have very little maintenance not having oil to change and little or no filters to replace or transmissions to flush. We also have a pickup that uses lots of gas. and I like it but we like the plug-in hybrid better than just about any car we’ve ever had.

We are both in our early 70s so we’ve had many vehicles.
