Police overreacted to dance goers

The event was planned well in advanced, all rules and regulations were followed. Then on Aug. 8, the Monroe Library hosted a rave!

It went great, the turnout was awesome, and no real problems occurred. At least no problems occurred because of attendees.

Before the rave, police showed up and began harassing minors, even trying to force some off the property. During the rave, an EMS vehicle tried parking in the parking lot, a mere block from the station. Both cops and EMS were asked to vacate the premises.

After the rave, cops began following and pulling over rave goers. Gross amounts of officers were used to pull people over, with ratios like two cops to one car, or six officers to four minors. My friend was harassed for being cold and skinny, asked multiple times if it was because he was a drug user.

Almost no tickets were issued, and it seemed that the cops only wanted to prove that the people attending the rave were using drugs. The police showed a huge amount of prejudice, a lack of respect for the community and lack of responsibility with their actions. As an attendee, and a citizen, I was disgusted by what happened.
