Our government is writing into law the disregarding of the law with the proposed immigration reform bill. It gives instant legal status to everyone here “illegally!” That’s an affront to every person who waited in line for themselves or a loved one to immigrate, obeying our laws. The legal immigrants I know are furious about this. It’s a slap in the face to every American who follows our laws. What about amnesty for legal Americans? I demand amnesty for traffic violations, including the asinine booster seat law! After all, I just want to work and contribute to society. Why should my violations of the law be used to punish me, a contributing member of our economy? What a racist bunch of pandering. If I, as a white male American, used falsified Social Security documents to get a job and hide from the law, what would happen to me? Would liberal rights organizations take to the street and defend me because I just want to work and support my family?
Employers hiring anyone without proof of legal residency should be fined $500 per day per individual (proof being either a U.S. birth certificate or an official residency document only available from an American consulate in their country of origin); give one year notice before enforcement and a five-year prison term for using fraudulent documents to meet these requirements. In one year it would be too expensive to employ an illegal worker.
Tariffs keep out cheap goods, why not cheap labor? Actually, the problem is they don’t want to solve it. They want to pander – Democrats to future voters and Republicans to business donors. The American people are not even a player in this debate. That needs to change quickly! Amnesty isn’t necessary.
