To all of you non “Boeing Family” people, you need to know the truth. The IAM Machinists Union is not to blame in this decision to send the second 787 line to South Carolina. It all has to do with the fact that The Boeing Company decided to off load the 787. Wow, what does that sa
y about you and me and all the other people here in the Pacific Northwest? We don’t rate, we don’t qualify to continue to build the very best product in the aircraft industry. So Boeing decides to off-load. They lost control of all the very important parts and pieces to continue to uphold the reputation “we” the Boeing employees have worked long and hard to build and maintain.
This didn’t happen because the Machinists went on strike last year, for 57 days, it happened way before that. Actually, everything began to change when the company bought McDonnell-Douglas years ago, moved headquarters to Chicago and then began the 787 off-load around the world. Now the 787 is 2-1/2 years behind schedule, so let’s blame it on the Machinists. There is really something wrong with this picture.
The men and women that work for this company have worked long and hard. They put up with lay-offs and strikes. My husband is a Machinist and has been with the company for over 35 years and is still continuing to give his best to every plane he comes in contact with. That is what Boeing workers do. It appalls us to see The Boeing Company continue to blame the union for their poor, selfish choices.
Boeing really has gone “South.”
