After reading the article on the Pigeon Creek Trail (“Port of Everett temporarily closes Pigeon Creek trail,” The Herald, Dec. 12), I have several questions and comments. Many of us use that trail year round and are frustrated at the closure. During last year I didn’t see any unusual homeless activity during the winter. The trail has been open weekends, does this mean the homeless go home on weekends? The Lowell River Trail has very similar circumstances, should we close it also? Casino has a high crime rate, should it be closed to pedestrians?
As port taxpayers, we all own the port and all we are asking for is a minuscule piece where we can enjoy the water, the numerous eagles and get our exercise and meet our neighbors. I have lived in Everett all of my life and am not ready to surrender to the street people.
