Recently, a sex offender who was featured on the Dateline show “To Catch a Predator” moved within two miles of my mother, sister, 6-year-old niece and 4-year-old nephew’s house in Lake Stevens. In proximity to their house are two elementary schools and a middle school. Needless to say, there are a lot of children around this person. I wrote a letter to the local state representative for that area, Steve Hobbs, about my concerns of a convicted sex offender being so close to so many young children. I haven’t heard anything back, and it just perplexes me so much that these people always are seemingly released around areas where many children are. It seems like this occurs all the time, and I am fed up with it.
I understand that these people have served their time, but why are they released around areas that have many children around? It just baffles me, and when I try to find answers from a politician about why this is happening, I get no reply back. That makes me just about as sick as what I am complaining about. Unbelievable is all I have to say. We are supposed to be protecting our children, not putting them in harm’s way potentially.
