Pregnant woman’s story raises concern

The Jan. 6 article about a pregnant woman in Spokane County who was denied a divorce was certainly more detailed than what we got on the TV news. The way TV portrayed it I thought this poor woman was being unjustly treated by an old-fashioned, anti-feminist judge enforcing some archaic law against divorce for a pregnant woman.

However, since this article disclosed many other facts, I no longer feel that way. The only question I have in my mind now is how – literally and emotionally, could this woman get pregnant by a man who pleaded guilty to a gang-related, drive-by shooting in 1998 when, as the article stated, he was currently incarcerated for this crime and soon to be released from jail. All I can say is something is wrong with our legal system if this man was out of prison/jail so as to create this new life in the first place. And there is something wrong with this woman’s decision making when it comes to intimate relationships. I really hope she gets some emotional help for herself for the sake of this baby and her other two children.

FILE — Supporters of President Donald Trump storm the U.S. Capitol in Washington, Jan. 6, 2021. The Supreme Court’s ruling that Trump enjoyed broad immunity from prosecution over official acts has opened the possibility that more evidence in his attempt to subvert the 2020 election could be revealed in public court filings — maybe even before the upcoming presidential election.
