I have noticed over the past several years that on the final day for filing federal tax returns, U.S. post offices have kept their facilities open for extended hours to accommodate those procrastinators who, for whatever reason, cannot or will not get off their collective hind ends.
Now, this year, the IRS has already added two days to the filing deadline. Be quite assured, these postal employees are not working extra hours out of the goodness of their hearts. Let’s cease coddling procrastinators and make a deadline a true deadline and possibly avert another postal rate hike.
