We want to thank you so much for the heartwarming story on the front page of your Saturday edition. (“Marriage proposal makes Snohomish school fire drill a memorable one.“)
It was thrilling to see the entire school turn out for the proposal of marriage portrayed. What a wonderful example of love and dedication, not to mention the great example for the young in attendance.
We were especially impressed with the principal thinking it would be nice to have the entire school witness the fact these two people have been living together without being married for two years!
What message does this send? It’s OK to live as man and wife and get married later? Is this in the curriculum at this school? The last sentence of the article says it all. Allessandro Squadrito, 11: “I will do what he did.” Does that mean he plans on living with someone and someday getting around to marriage?
If ever the stance of a school principal begged for a resignation, this seems to fit the bill.
