When I hear the siren or pull over for the ambulance I always think, “I wonder if I know the person.” My next thought is, “Thank goodness we have this service in case some day it’s me they help.” What I didn’t realize is that there is only one ambulance and paramedic team based on Camano Island. Back-up vehicles must be called from Stanwood, Silvana-Warm Beach or Mount Vernon.
Considering the increased population on the island, having just one vehicle here means that when that 911 call is for me, or you, there might not be a paramedic team available in time. The proposed levy is all about improving response time. Another vehicle and paramedic team would sure make me feel more secure when I hear that siren.
If you think about medical aid for yourself and your own family, a Yes vote for Proposition 1 may save your life.
