September traditionally signals the end of summer and the return of children to the classroom. This year, the month of September has also been proclaimed PTA Membership Month and signals the start of a statewide campaign to encourage parents, teachers and other community members to join their local PTA.
Founded in 1905, Washington State PTA’s 142,000 members are dedicated to improving the educational opportunities and quality of life for all children and youth. PTA provides opportunities for parents, teachers, students, civic leaders, business professionals, senior citizens and all residents to be involved in the education, health and well-being of the children of our community. Membership in a local PTA also links individuals with a strong state and national organization that supports child advocacy efforts through educational programs and legislation.
Parent and public involvement are essential to the successful education of our children. Joining PTA is a first step. Call your local school and tell them you want to become an advocate for children in this community by joining their PTA. We guarantee you’ll be welcomed. There is a place for everyone in PTA. Join today!
