On behalf of the entire Medical Staff of Providence Everett Medical Center, I would like to reassure the Greater Everett community that the new Pavilion for Women and Children located on the Pacific Campus of the hospital will be staffed by the physicians you have come to know and trust over the years, not just those from Children’s, as was stated in the May 6 Herald. Your family physician, obstetrician, or nurse midwife will deliver you in the beautiful new birthing suites, your pediatrician or family doctor will care for your child in the new pediatrics unit or for your newborn baby after delivery. Anesthesiologists will help with pain control during labor and in surgical situations. The radiologists, pathologists, oncologists, surgeons and primary care physicians who live and work in this community will direct your care in the new Breast Center. Internal medicine doctors will be available for consult should the need arise, and emergency room physicians will remain your access point in the case of an emergency.
In the new neonatal intensive care unit, our colleagues from Children’s will take care of a large number of those infants who in the past needed to go to Seattle for treatment, as well as being available for consultation to your physician if necessary. Specialists from Children’s will also serve our patients with specific medical conditions in their outpatient clinics, thus saving the hassles of commuting. Perinatologists from the University of Washington will have a clinic and provide consultation for women with higher risk pregnancies. These new members of our medical staff will add to the already great quality of providers and services available in Everett.
I would invite all readers to take advantage of the opportunity to tour the new facility today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Medical Staff of PEMC anxiously awaits the opening of the Pavilion on Sunday, Mother’s Day, and recommits itself to providing you with continued high quality medical care.
