The Donaldson family and friends would like to take this moment to show their appreciation and to give thanks to the generous people of Everett for the support and unselfish contributions that were made to the American Red Cross.
On Saturday, Sept. 15, our family and friends gathered in the parking lot of Kodiak Ron’s Pub in Everett and we held a car wash. In the wake of the tragic events in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, we felt the need to do more than make our own small contributions to the Red Cross, so we asked the good people of Everett to help out. As is happening all over the country, help is what we received.
Kodiak Ron’s Pub graciously allowed us the use of their parking lot and water, and we set to work. What happened next was truly a sight to see. You wonderful people just kept coming with your cars and your contributions. Some of you helped us wash your own cars. Others pitched in and donated their own time to wash others’ cars. One lovely lady even donated cookies, and Kodiak Ron’s supplied us with soda to help quench our thirst while our youngest ones carried signs to show the way to the wash and inform people it was taking place.
Originally the plan was to work the car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The people and the donations, however, decided otherwise, and we kept the wash going until 5 p.m. From the person who donated $100 to the young man who gave the change in his pocket, to the people who donated their cash even though they didn’t want their cars washed, all of you helped raise $1,128.81 for the Red Cross relief efforts. Our sincerest and heartfelt thanks go out to all of you, who once again proved how generous and compassionate our community and our country truly are!
One hundred percent of the monies collected from the wash were donated to the American Red Cross first thing in the morning on Monday, Sept. 17.
