Wow. Ed Hansen gets a big contract to oversee the Snohomish County PUD. He in turn brings in his pal(s) from Everett’s payroll to “assist” him. Then comes the hiring of the “analysts” for commissioners Cynthia First, David Aldrich and Kathy Vaughn, to the tune of $229,000 (why did the commissioners even bother to run for their positions if they didn’t know how to conduct the business they were elected to do?)
Now comes word of the $37 million “upgraded” billing system, which is only 250 percent over budget, and finally, the big one hits the print, “PUD on path to rate increase” (Feb. 1). What a unique way to explain things – blame the Bonneville Power Administration.
Don’t get me wrong – I’m not suggesting Bonneville doesn’t play a big part in this possible rate increase, but it seems to me that these highly paid PUD individuals should be able to figure out a way to curb their own spending, and then work on a way to be not so dependant on Bonneville as their power source.
The bottom line here? I have absolutely no confidence in the job that these people are doing to provide our county with affordable power. What an extreme waste of money.
