I am writing to show my support for Kevin Quigley for Snohomish County executive.
Over the past decade, I’ve gotten to know Kevin very well, and two remarkable traits have always stood out: Kevin is steadfastly guided by his dedication to sound principles, and he has a very strong dedication to community service.
Kevin’s principles are regularly apparent in his actions. In the Senate, he refused all offers from lobbyists, even a cup of coffee. In his personal life, in his service in the Senate, in his campaign, and in business, he has pinched every penny and stretched every dollar. When I think of his principles, my strongest memory stems from a meeting with him during his service in the Senate. I had briefed him about a proposed park at Robe Canyon in Snohomish County. Kevin responded that the proposed park was a superb project. He went on to say that he had taken a strong position to limit state borrowing, and, as a member of the Capital Budget Committee, he was committed to holding the line on spending. With his dedication to fiscal responsibility, in no way could he ask for new spending in his home district. I was struck that I had just met an uncommon politician – someone who is guided by strong dedication to principles and who tells the truth, without any pretense!
By the way, while in the Senate, Kevin was able to substitute the Robe Canyon project for a project of lesser merit in the same area. On account of Kevin’s leadership, Robe Canyon Historic Park is today the crown jewel of Snohomish County parks.
