The case against locating the KRKO proposed antenna farm in the Snohomish Valley has been well made and upheld by two professional Snohomish County hearing examiners. The towers would ruin forever the pristine beauty of a valley that we all enjoy.
KRKO tried to make the case that they provide a public service and therefore should be able to locate the unsightly towers wherever they please. KRKO is in fact not a public utility, nor a public servant nor a servant of any kind. Profit, and that is the only rational reason for their existence, motivates them. More antenna power will increase their coverage area and their revenue base plus it will expand their area of influence, something that is apparently important to the private owners.
If the private owners find it so necessary to increase signal strength there are plenty of alternative locations. Some cost benefit compromise may be necessary, but that is a necessary cost of doing business to avoid destroying a beautiful public resource. Recently a few individuals from Edmonds, Seattle and Mukilteo wrote to The Herald in support of the antenna farm. Perhaps they have a location in their own communities for it.
