I can’t believe my eyes! Did I read that the County Council just agreed to $6 million in pay raises and nearly a half million in “signing” bonuses? Haven’t any of you heard — we’re in a near-depression.
Federal employees are not getting raises. State employees are not getting raises. But the County Council is going to give raises to the tune of $6 million! How many of the 160 jobs that are projected to be lost could have been saved? Are county employees all so greedy that they don’t care about those who will be laid off because they got a raise? Somehow I don’t think so.
This decision is just one of many in the last few years which makes me think the entire council should be recalled — or laid off, themselves.
