I would like to say bravo to Bruce Karr for his efforts to reach out to our communities to touch those who are in desperate need of a kind touch of humanity in our often unkind world.
The Farm Youth Outreach hosted a wonderful Christmas party for about 300 women and children (along with a few men) from our local shelters. It was a rousing success.
The folks who attended were treated to a royal ride to the party on beautiful new state of the art buses, equipped with videos and bathrooms! The farm was decorated with the likes of The Grinch, The Cat in the Hat and, of course, Santa … along with a plethora of lights, poinsettias, stuffed animals and Christmas carolers. There was a fantastic ham and turkey dinner replete with all the trimmings and a wonderful show including songs, clowns and a living nativity story complete with live animals. Children had their picture taken with Santa and received gifts of toys and clothes.
This project was made possible by the countless hours of labor and the great generosity of people who gave donations of products, services and money, as well as their time. Local youth groups volunteered to be shopper helpers to guide little ones in the selection of presents for their parents and siblings.
This was a true evangelical effort by many in our community to provide some of the magic of the Christmas season to some who are less fortunate than many of us. It was a great outpouring of love and a fun outing for many people who needed just that to brighten their season.
Blessing and glad tidings to all involved. You did a fantastic job!
