This is in response to the letter, “Readers expect better balance,” which opines that the Everett Herald is imbalanced because it does not report on items that the writer feels are newsworthy. The writer gives two examples: that the Clinton Foundation has shut down, and a quote from LBJ. I would suggest the reason the writer has not read those two stories in the Everett Herald is simply because they are not true. This is easily verifiable by going to Snopes.com. The former is untrue – the Clinton Foundation is still open. It is the Clinton Global Initiative, a program within the Clinton Foundation, that is shutting down pursuant to a decision was made before the election. The latter is based on a single unsupported source and cannot be verified as true, despite its popularity among certain groups who wish to believe it.
If the writer does not know what Snopes is, perhaps a nearby young person who is internet-savvy can be of help. It’s really quite easy to find out what is true and what is not, if you want to.
