NASA says it reused the erased tape, presumably to record the telecast of “Heidi” in 1972.
Luckily NASA found four surviving copies of the tapes, and Hollywood technical wizards created digitally enhanced video of the historic mission. Among other fixes, they removed the boom mike that dipped into the shot when Buzz Aldrin went hopping across the lunar surface.
