I am writing to ask all who read the Feb. 16 article on Potters House (“Boys’ home closed”) to remember the good that Baker Street Ministries (the facility’s operator) does in our community. I am a single mother who received food baskets (including a turkey) from Baker Street at Thanksgiving and Christmas. My kids received Christmas gifts from Baker Street when other agencies told me I had waited too long to apply. A relative needed a drug evaluation and couldn’t afford it because he was unemployed. We called five treatment agencies and everyone said, “No money, no evaluation.” We called Baker Street, a state approved treatment center, and they performed the evaluation for free – and the counselor accompanied my relative to Work Source to help him find work.
I know firsthand that Baker Street cares and helps! Let’s not judge by what is alleged but by what has been demonstrated.
