Most people celebrated Thanksgiving for the day or the weekend with food and football, but for me every day is a Thanksgiving Day. After many years of donating blood and setting up blood bank draws, I am now on the receiving end of those donations. This Thanksgiving I am most thankful to 49 blood donors who have shared their life-giving gift since I have been diagnosed with myelodysplasia – a medical condition where my body has stopped producing red blood cells. With no cure in sight, I pray that those who can and do donate blood will do so for the need is always so great, especially during the coming holiday season. A most grateful and heartfelt thank you to all donors for sharing a gift we often take for granted.
