The recent rejection of Boeing’s Joint Strike Fighter contract is another irrefutable example of our present state and municipal governments’ lack of interest in promoting attractions for industrial and business development. Certainly the protracted negligence by both levels of government – to transit problems, taxation issues, growth management policies and protection of agricultural interests – directly inhibits investment by scientific, industrial and business development.
Finally, remember that the rapid rail proposals for traffic solutions were initiated at the time of the World’s Fair in 1962. The state and local governments have persistently denied any consideration of these plans. The Puget Sound region remains a metropolitan area of low attraction.
