I am seeing a trend forming here …
“Bad News Bears,” “The Longest Yard,” “The War of the Worlds,” “Herbie: Fully Loaded,” “House of Wax,” “Night of the Living Dead,” “Freaky Friday,” “The Parent Trap.” What is up with the remakes? With all of the “talent” out there, can’t they come up with some new material?
I’ve never seen so many people making so much money using other people’s ideas before. Then, if there are movies that haven’t been seen or made before, they are using comic book stories that have already been written and read before.
Then, if it is a “new movie,” it is a bunch of people playing make believe in front of a “green screen” so that later on all of the entertaining stuff can be added on by the computer-generated imagery people. The “actors” are barely acting at all. Instead they are playing to a stick with a tennis ball on it with no actual interaction between human beings. That isn’t acting.
We are being cheated by Hollywood and paying top dollar of our hard-earned money to do so.
Actors used to have to act. Writers used to have to write. Making good movies used to be an art. It’s just one more thing that we have watched disintegrate due to new innovative technology. Makes me feel very old when I catch myself saying things like, “When I was a kid.” I am not that old. Thank God I have a VCR. Oops, even now that isn’t good enough because all of the “video” rental stores are going to nothing but DVDs. Anyway, at least we can still rent “good movies” to watch. Until something happens to end that. I don’t know how much I like technology sometimes, you know?
