I have been reading letters to you from people commenting on your journalistic virtues and sins, and I now want to weigh in with my opinion, too.
I first subscribed to your paper because I appreciate the diversity of opinion which you editorial policy encourages. One is surprised or challenged by differing points of view over time in letters, editorials and columns. This continues to please me.
I also now look forward to the movie reviews by Mr. Robert Horton. They are thoughtful, knowledgeable, straightforward and in good taste. I choose movies to see on the basis on his reviews, or at least ones I would like to see, if I ever can work them in my schedule.
Most importantly, I think you have earned a Pulitzer Prize for your Oso slide coverage, from start to finish, even now as it continues. Every story is poignant and really brings a reader into such deep connection to those who are no longer strangers. This is writing at its very best, in my opinion. You have brought honor not only to yourselves, but to those whom you have so lyrically portrayed, and to what is the best in the rest of us. They as they stand have touched the nation and you have told their story well.
Your standard is high — keep it flying!
