Republican, Democratic parties have changed over years

In response to the recent letter from Doug Roulstone, chairman of the county Republican Party, regarding Republicans and Democrats, he makes some valid points but also needs to look at all of history. For example, Lincoln’s immediate successor, Andrew Johnson, a Republican did much to undo the efforts of reparation. Further, Mr. Roulstone should acknowledge how the two parties have evolved.

Finally, both parties should have a common agenda of working together. for the benefit of our country and for the people who elected them. Why waste time and energy bashing the other party?
