Republican Party seeks to dismantle U.S. democracy

There simply is no doubt about it. The Republican Party has not only turned its back on American democracy, it has mounted an all out assault on it. It has become the anti-democratic party.

The Republicans are seeking to dismantle American democracy because they know that in a truly democratic political system they will never consistently be elected to positions of power. In a truly democratic political system they would not be able to stop the federal and state governments from doing things to help ordinary Americans, something they don’t want any government to do.

Shame on what was founded as the party of Lincoln. If we want to preserve American democracy we must defeat Republicans at every level of government every chance we get.

Rev. Dr. Thomas C. Sorenson
