In answer to the train issue in Marysville; here is my idea: Reroute the line around Marysville. Start the bypass just south of Marysville and proceed north through a reservation right of way and connect again south of Lakewood, resulting in a complete bypass of a very busy area.
The funds generated by Burlington Northern Santa Fe vacating the line through town (excellent business property) could be used to pay the Tulalip Tribes for the right-of-way through their land. This in turn would create a very easy access to the tribes’ business and casino ventures with the existing Amtrak service.
The traffic problem in Marysville would no longer be a problem. The trains are a fact of life and are not going away. The railroad did not cause the problem. A city was built around and beside it.
By the way, I would lose the trains going by my house, a price I guess I have to pay. I love the trains.
