Regarding the article, “$320M fix prescribed for Everett’s aging sewers”: The city of Everett passed three sewer bonds in the 1960s and 1970s. These bonds were paid by the homeowners who lived in the Bond No. 1, Bond No. 2 and Bond No. 3 areas of south Everett over the 30-year life of the bonds.
These bond areas were located from around 41st Street to the south Everett city limits. Everett homeowners north of 41st Street never paid a penny for these sewer costs. Am I to assume that south Everett will subsidize the sewer work benefiting the homes in north Everett? If so, wouldn’t it be more equitable for all homeowners, if bond areas were established for the north Everett homeowners to pay for their upgrades as south Everett home owners did? Thirty years was a long time and a lot of money to pay, but we did it.
North Everett should do the same.
