I attended the Edmonds Community College graduation on Friday night and I am just appalled at how rude the audience was. Constant talking, babies crying and all the getting in and out of their seats. Very disruptive to those around them trying to listen to speakers.
As soon as a name was called, people just started leaving the ceremony. Those names who were called toward the end were not even able to be heard. These students have worked hard for this moment in their lives and deserved more respect than what they received that night. We try to teach our children respect for themselves and others as they are growing up but when it comes to a big event in their lives like graduation, those friends and family are not very respectful. What are we teaching our kids?
