It has become interesting to read the letters regarding Iraq written by some of your readers. It seems daily that we see a variety of opinions on this topic that span the complete spectrum. What amazes me are the number of people who truly believe that non-involvement in Iraq will make Saddam Hussein go away. Were this an ideal world, such notions might have merit. The reality is that sub-human villains exist in national leadership positions around the world. They must be dealt with harshly and decisively in order to prevent them from spreading their personal evil on the rest of us.
Hussein’s track record speaks for itself, as well as the mounting evidence of his weapons programs. He and his supporters must be flushed immediately to prevent them from gaining a further foothold in the global power community. I doubt that many of those who advocate non-involvement would appreciate a 100 percent price hike at the gas pumps if Hussein seizes control of Middle East oil supplies. Nor would they like to hear about the mayhem and destruction he could unleash. No, the best solution is to deal with the problem now before it gets out of hand.
