With forlornness, but at the same time with strong support, I smiled when I read Superior Court Judge Ken Cowsert has retired. (Nov. 18 article, “Justice Done.”) I had the privilege of working with this dedicated civil servant when we both were assigned to investigate, and then prosecute, arguably the most prolific serial arsonist in our nation’s history, Paul Kenneth Keller.
From the days of “yesterday year” I was extremely impressed with Cowsert’s sense of humor, legal knowledge, approachability, organizational skills, leadership skills, and his concern for his fellow human beings and for being a role model for all of us on the Sno/King Arson Task Force.
My wife, Karen, and I thank Cowsert for his major role in building our community and being a place where justice is served. The judge has earned his retirement and I do hope he is as proud of his accomplishments as are those who received the privilege of working directly with him. With great respect we wish the judge, and his wife, Helene, a traveling and relaxing life together.
