As one of the apparent minority on this one, I voted against this initiative, but not for the reasons most people did. Why is it at a time when our state is in financial trouble, we the voters are taking as much as possible from it, and then telling them that we want them to do this or that for us? We all have our problems, and we want them to be taken care of. But, how can we expect the government to take care of the problems we want them to if we keep taking away from them and ask for more?
It is those of us in real need of help that always end up suffering for these changes. Now, we have an established money machine being taken away from the coffers that keep getting raided. So for all of those who voted for this initiative to pass, please, no whining when further cutbacks and service closures happen, no complaining that this or that road is not being repaired, or you child’s school is closing. Remember, let’s get the government out of this or that. Well, it really does cost you something to save a little now. We will all pay later for this one. Thank you for allowing me to vent.
