The Washington Supreme Court has done it again. They have undone the gun convictions and exceptional sentences of two of the people convicted of helping Maurice Clemmons after he killed four police officers. Eight justices decided that 10 years was “inappropriate” and “not legally justified.” Really? Four officers are dead and 2?½ years for each one is not justified? Animal life has more value than human life in the eyes of Justice Mary Fairhurst and seven of her companions.
Mark Lindquist, the Pierce County prosecutor, said that “some parts of the Wednesday’s court opinion will be discouraging to the community” and that “people were held accountable and served time and that his office sent a message.” I agree he sent a message. It said life is cheap in our courts.
Mr. Lindquist, the public is not discouraged, we are disgusted. We are disgusted with the court for yet another completely illogical decision, and with you for trying to sugar-coat it.
