In response an editorial that ran in the Seattle Times, “Seattle Archdiocese must release ‘secret’ files on misconduct,” referring to the many years of atrocities committed by the Catholic Church: How to make them provide the sordid details of their sins, and how to punish them for these sins? Go after them where it will cause their greatest concern, their vast bank accounts and other holdings.
Simply invoke a 1960s law, signed by President Lyndon Johnson, which states that any church in violation of U.S. civil laws would be subject to revocation of its tax exempt status. This would get their attention, and may bring forth some of the desired information!
Imagine the financial destruction that could occur if a church would have to pay back 20 to 30 years of property taxes, with interest!
LBJ had it right, time to enforce this law.
