As a retired military person and a member of two military fraternal organizations, I take umbrage over Rep. Rick Larsen’s television campaign commercials. I have to admit that he is a good campaigner, but what he says and what he has done are completely two different things.
Doug Roulstone’s educational, military experience and private sector experience far exceeds his opponent. He has lived with and led military personnel. He would also be more knowledgeable regarding military needs and the pipeline. After retirement, he became involved with Navy League and made many trips to Washington D.C. to represent the Everett Naval Base to the Base Closure Commission.
Upon retirement from the military, Doug Roulstone entered the private sector becoming a local businessman. He understands the problems and costs of running a business. Healthcare, retirement accounts and meeting payroll are a constant concern for small business owners. He will be able to represent both the small business owner and those who work for them better than his opponent.
Doug Roulstone is a strong supporter of public education. He worked hard in support of the Snohomish School District bond issue. He also initiated and successfully placed in the Snohomish High School an up-to-date machine shop. Students are now able to have the vocational learning to better prepare them for well paying employment.
We need someone of Representative Jack Metcalf’s caliber again to represent the 2nd Congressional district – that person is Doug Roulstone.
