Regarding Doug Roulstone’s July 25 letter, “Rep. Larsen sides with socialists,” I can agree with one thing, and that is,”everyone is entitled to their own opinion.”
The key words here are socialists and socialism. Every civilized country in the world practices socialism, including the good old U.S.A., ie. Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, L&I, public utilities, etc. The differences between conservatives and liberals lies to what extent these and other programs should be extended or pared back. These “socialists” may very well be for more social spending, but I don”t understand why that makes them bad people.
Our current president believes that anybody who disagrees with his policies or pronouncements automatically hates him and therefore hates America. He also believes anybody that disagrees with Israel’s policies are anti-semitic. That’s B.S.
I guess I also agree with Mr. Roulstone that Russia, China and North Korea are countries to be concerned about, but not because they practice socialism. It is because they run totalitarian governments. They literally kill people or imprison people who disagree with them.
Ironically, the leaders of these countries are the ones our president adores. I would think that would worrisome to you.
In ending, thank you, Mr. Roulstone for your service to our country. I won’t label as a socialist even though you seem to back a president who is enamored with the “Commies.”
