Rush to fill seat feels really cold

I feel it’s really cold that steps are already being taken to fill Councilman Drew Nielsen’s seat! What is up with the Everett Charter? Even if it dictates his position needs to be filled this year, don’t the officials have any respect for Drew Nielsen and his family? Couldn’t they even wait until after his memorial?

As much as Drew did for our community, I think a bit more respect could have been shown for him and his family! His family should be given time for mourning, time to celebrate his life. A job opening shouldn’t have to be announced before his memorial even has happened.

The charter says the position must be filled this year. There are six and a half months left in this year. Give it at least a couple of weeks, a month would be better. I don’t think things will fall apart before then!
