Russia’s buildup at Ukraine’s border is a reaction to Adolf Hitler’s Operation Barbarossa of WW II. Germany sent 3.5 million troops into the USSR killing 24 million. It was the largest military campaign in history. They don’t want it repeated.
The Nazi air force, commanded by Hermann Goring, had 3,400 aircraft. Gen. Heinz Guderian committed 3,600 tanks. Germany mustered 600,000 motor transport vehicles. They had 625,000 horses. All commanded by Gen. Field Marshal Gerd von Rundstedt. SS-Reichsfuhrer Heinrich Himmler was there. Adolf Hitler said, “All we have to do is kick in the door and the whole rotten structure will come crashing down.”
This massacre was only 80 years ago. Can you blame Putin? They are still in pain from those days. Russia was nice enough to disband the USSR. We need to not tread on their old sore wounds.
You know times have changed when Germany is not getting into this fight.
