I want to thank the U.S. Navy for opening the base to the public on July 4th. Also I want to thank the sailors for the fantastic job they did. They were very professional and proficient in handling the almost 10,000 visitors. They managed the tour and entrance lines extremely well and still managed enough screening and security to make the visitors feel safe from any attack on the base. There were plenty of activities and food available.
Thanks also to Crown Distributing for its help. The Navy had nothing to do with the fireworks mess. The cost of a tour of the USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Ingraham, a softball game, music concerts, classic car show, magic acts, etc. was totally free. Not only does the U.S. Navy help to protect our freedoms daily, it provides us with an awesome free show and tour on Independence Day! However we must never forget that the price of our freedom is not free.
