Parents and all other taxpayers: Are you fed up with having you and your children held hostage every year by labor disputes in the public school system? It’s obvious by their bullheaded refusal to accept binding arbitration that you and your children mean very little. You can let them and the Legislature know that you will no longer tolerate it. Vote no on all school levies until the Legislature allocates a good portion of the state education money for charter schools and/or vouchers for parents. Parents need and deserve other options.
Competition is a staple of democracy; it produces improvement and innovation. Isn’t that what you want for your children? The public school system doesn’t want competition; it would threaten its monopoly. If the Legislature won’t support charter schools and/or vouchers, then vote only for candidates who will. The way the school system is set up now isn’t democratic, it’s despotic.
